Had my first accident a few weeks back. Nothing serious, just inexperience. I hit a patch of gravel on a corner, panicked, pulled the front brake, and well you can guess what happened. Suddenly I was sliding across the road and into a curb.
I walked away with some bad bruises, but otherwise fine. The bike’s cowling, front stay, battery bracket and side covers all but evaporated, and the handlebars bent straight into my leg.
After pricing all the parts I decided to replace them myself as all the tools needed to do it were included with the bike. Plus paying for labour would have cost an arm and a leg. I don’t think I’ve done a bad job at all.
It hasn’t put me off riding at all, the way I see it, it was going to happen eventually. At least I was in full gear, and I have learnt a lot from it. The only thin that’s been hurt is my pride and wallet.
Last part needed to be sorted to be back on the road is the handlebars, I have a renthal on coming in the mail soon though.
